Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. They relocated to Oxfordshire when she was five years old and attended an academy called the Dragon School. Emma's dream was to become an actor. As a young girl of 6, she enrolled in the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch, where she took classes in acting, singing as well as dancing. When she was ten, she was performing and taking part in many Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. The casting process began in 1999 for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by agent via her Oxford teacher. After eight consecutive auditions, director David Heyman told Emma and co-applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they were cast for the roles of the three main characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's film debut coincided with the release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). The film broke all records for opening day and weekend numbers, and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. Critics gave high praise to the film and particularly the younger actors. The Daily Telegraph, an important British paper, called Emma's performances "amazing". Emma's performance was recognized and was awarded five awards for the film.
